The Stichting Leeuw Lions

Nero & Masrya
The King and Queen

Masrya was rescued from Cairo where she spent nearly three years of her life permanently locked in a tiny cage. She was taken to Stichting Leeuw in Amsterdam and restored to health. Nero was Masrya’s mate at the Stichting Leeuw sanctuary in Amsterdam. They stole the hearts of the community there and were hailed the King and Queen of Stichting Leeuw. Nero and Masrya were brought to the Emoya Big Cat Sanctuary in May 2015. The two are still inseparable and live like true royalty in their very large natural enclosure at Emoya.

Tristan, Nala & Asali
The Love Lions

The lions were brought from Stichting Leeuw lion sanctuary in Amsterdam and released at Emoya Big Cat Sanctuary on 19 May 2016. They were originally due to arrive on 14 February and the trio were dubbed the Love Lions. The Love Lions are surplus zoo animals and are neither able to live in the wild nor accustomed to people. Moving them to Emoya has provided the lions the ideal environment and space to live out their lives in relative freedom.
